Bought this with the intent for it to be a "project piece". I expected issues, and was correct. The most laughable issue are the langets. These are merely two strips of steel that are screwed in place. They don't even touch the axe head. Langets both aid in holding the head to the handle, and add strength to the handle itself. These do neither. I will be making a new piece that laps over the axe head and is held on with solid rivets...not dinky little screws.The steel is decent... low-end of the high carbon family, probably around 1045 or equivalent. I was pleased that the top of the axe head is enclosed, though the decorative "spike" has to go.The wood of the handle is typical of pieces made in that part of the world (Pakistan). I might replace that as well.All in all, it's an "okay" piece for display... but making it mildly "battle ready" will take some work.
